Williamsburg Park Concert 2012
The Williamsburg Waterfront is no longer home to the the Open Space Alliance (OSA) summer concert series. They now have a new home Williamsburg Park, that has the makings of another great outdoor concert venue for New York City. The 2012 concert line up keep’s getting better and currently includes, Jane’s Addiction, Sublime with Rome, Cypress Hill, Cake, and My Morning Jacket.
Celebrate Brooklyn 2012 Schedule
The 34th Annual Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival will take place on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, will kick off the summer of free concerts that will be held at the Prospect Park Bandshell. His hits, “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and “The Harder They Come,” are reggae classics that are known all over the world.
Apollo Spring Gala 2012 honoring Lionel Richie
The Apollo Theater’s Spring Gala will be a gathering of some of the best and brightest in business and the entertainment industry. On this star studded night, Lionel Richie and the late Etta James will be inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame, joining past inductees Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Patti LaBelle, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson among others. The Apollo Spring Gala which is in its seventh year, will be held on on June 4, 2012.
Barclays Center Concerts
The Barclay’s Center will be a premier location for sporting events and live music concerts in Brooklyn. The landmark entertainment arena will feature concerts by big names such as Justin Bieber, Barbra Streisand, Andrea Bocelli, Leonard Cohen, Rush and none other than the stadium owner himself, Jay Z.
Madison Square Park Music
New York City’s Madison Square Park has a full summer of concerts lined up for The Oval Lawn Series. Every Wednesday evening starting June 20, music acts that include Gretchen Parlato, Jeff “Tain” Watts Quartet, Regina Carter and Nellie McKay will take the stage. All concerts are free of charge!
The Governors Ball Music Festival
The Governors Ball Music Festival is one big party for two days of live music on Randall’s Island. Some of the biggest acts in music will be performing at the festival which takes place June 23-24. There will be two stages of music but, they will not have overlapping sets so you will not have to miss any of the performances.
2012 Jones Beach Concerts
The Nikon Theater at Jones Beach is an awesome place to watch a summer concert in NYC. The 15000 seat venue is one of two major outdoor arenas in the New York metropolitan area. There are a ton of great concerts in 2012 with big names in music that include, Dave Matthews Band, Drake, Phish, and Barenaked Ladies. Concerts are rain or shine…the show must go on!
The Brooklyn Terminal Project
The Brooklyn Terminal Project will be an amazing place to experience your favorite DJ’s. This new outdoor venue will welcome some of the biggest DJ’s in the world all summer long, courtesy of Pacha NYC. The opening of The Brooklyn Terminal Project is scheduled for June 3rd with a show by the Australian duo Knife Party.
Punk Island 2012
Make Music New York and ABC No Rio has collaborated on putting together the annual NYC event, Punk Island. This all-ages, day long punk fest is free for all and takes place June 24 on Governors Island. Punk Island will feature 6 stages of music from 50 DIY punk bands that come from all over the country, roving brass bands playing music all over the island, and an outdoor visual art exhibition showcasing the work of punk artists.
Electric Daisy Carnival in New York
The Electric Daisy Carnival has made it’s way to New York for the first time since the start of the music festival back in 1997. This Insomniac event was previously held in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Dallas, Puerto Rico and now, it’s New York’s turn to host this three day Electronic Dance Music Festival. The weekend will feature four stages with music from world-class performers, special effects, theatrical displays, interactive art installations, and more.
