New York City has plenty to offer throughout the entire year and in summer there are a number of beaches that provide a ton of summer fun, from The Bronx to Staten Island. Each beach has its own personality that makes it special to NYC. Surfing, Concerts and Amusement parks are some of the things that you expect to find at New York City beaches.
Quicksilver Pro New York – Premier Surf Competition
If you are one of those people that tought New York does not have any waves to surf on, then you are wrong. Long Beach New York will be the home of the Quiksilver Pro New York which is the first professional world tour surf competition in the East Coast.
2011 Mermaid Parade at Coney Island
The 2011 Mermaid Parade will take place on June 18th starting at noon. The parade is the nation’s largest art parade and one of New York City’s greatest summer events.
If you’ve never been to Coney Island, this is an even that you do no want to miss. The Mermaid Parade pays homage to Coney Island’s forgotten Mardi Gras in a wonderful and wacky event that is unique to Coney Island.
The Parade will be followed by the Mermaid Parade Ball which is an extremely unique gathering of costumed parade participants. There’s live music, cocktails and in true Coney Island wackiness, a burlesque show by some of New York City’s hottest performers.
