2012 Mermaid Parade at Coney Island
The 30th anniversary of the Mermaid Parade at Coney Island will take place on Saturday June 23. The parade is the nation’s largest art parade and one of New York City’s greatest summer events. The Mermaid Parade pays homage to Coney Island’s forgotten Mardi Gras in a wonderful and wacky event that is unique to Coney Island. If you’ve never been to Coney Island, this is an event that you do not want to miss.
Big Apple Circus at Cunningham Park in Queens
The Big Apple Circus features some of the most exciting circus artists from around the world. Under the Big Top, there is no bad seat in the house as the entire audience is no further than 50 feet from the ring. Cunningham Park in Queens will be home to the Big Apple Circus from May 22 – June 17. Get ready for a singing Ringmistress, audacious acrobats, jugglers, balancing acts, trapeze flyers, and a host of super talented circus animals.
Spider-Man on Broadway – New music by Bono and The Edge
Broadway’s most popular new show, “Spider-Man Turn Off The Dark” is daring, ground-breaking and truly spectacular. The Broadway production has earned rave reviews and a large part of it’s success is due to first-time Broadway composers and U2 band member’s Bono and The Edge.
New York City Fireworks 2012 Schedule
There are a number of different Firework displays that take place in New York City each year. One of the biggest and most spectacular fireworks in NYC, take place on the July 4th, courtesy of Macy’s. For 36 year’s, Macy’s has been lighting up New York Sky’s with their Independance Day celebration that is televised all over the world. This year, the fireworks will be set off on the Hudson River between 18th and 48th streets.
New York International Auto Show Review
The New York International Auto Show was a great opportunity to see some of the best automobiles in the world under one roof. The show featured top luxury cars from auto makers that include, Ferrari, Bugatti, Porsche, Rolls Royce, Lotus, Lomborghini, BMW, McClaren, Mercedes and more… There were concepts cars and many electric cars that gave us a glimpse into what we can expect in the future .
New York Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival
The Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival took place on April 8. This annual New York City tradition goes back to the mid-1800′s when the social elite would parade their new fashions down Fifth Avenue after attending Easter services in one of the Fifth Avenue churches. Unlike most parade’s in the city, this one is unorganized and it suits it very well. There were no barricades that stopped the crowd from getting into the action with all of the participants. Those who like to be seen where seen and it was a lot of fun for all.
