The East River Ferry is making its debut today and is ready to offer a great alternative to overcrowded trains connecting Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn.
The ferry which is operated by New York Waterway will be free for all commuters for the next 12 days and will be $4 per ride after June 24th.
The East River Ferry will connect East Midtown at 34th Street in Manhattan with Long Island City in Queens, various points in Brooklyn, including Williamsburg and DUMBO, Governors Island and South Manhattan at Wall Street / Pier 11.
There will also be a free connecting shuttle bus that will take you from East 34th St terminal, through midtown, from 1st Ave to 6th Ave, then north on 6th Ave to 48th St, then east to Lexington Ave as it returns to the terminal.
