The 2011 US Open is over for another year and what an exciting tournament it was. New York had a very eventful 2 weeks during the tennis tournament that was greeted with Hurricane Irene and then tons of celebrities who arrived for Fashion Week and then on the final day of the open was the 9/11 day of remembrance.
This year gave us new Champions to the Open in Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Samantha Stosur of Australia. Djovak beat last year’s champion Rafael Nadal and on the women’s side, Samantha Stosur beat Serena Williams.
The Open also gave us another Star Spangled Banner highlight for the blooper reel after Cyndi Lauper, the Time after Time singer flubbed it.
Overall, this year brought great competition from past and future Champions and to recognize those who have won the Open before, we have put together a complete list of the Men’s and Women’s Singles Champions.
See you next year!
