The 34th Annual Celebrate Brooklyn! Performing Arts Festival will take place on Tuesday, June 5, 2012. Reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, will kick off the summer of free concerts that will be held at the Prospect Park Bandshell. His hits, “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and “The Harder They Come,” are reggae classics that are known all over the world.
Over the last 50 years, Jimmy cliff has helped shape modern music with this socially conscious work. The large Jamaican population in Brooklyn will be proud, as he is currently the only living musician to hold Jamaica’s Order of Merit, which is the highest honor granted for achievement in the arts and sciences
Celebrate Brooklyn! was an early anchor in the park’s revitalization and has become one of the city’s foremost summer cultural attractions.
