Every year, disco lover’s from all over converge on Buffalo New York for, The World’s Largest Disco. The event is a charity fundraiser held by Conesus Fest to raise funds for Camp Good Days and Special Times, a summer camp for children with cancer. The event which was first held back in 1979, packed 13,000 disco fans into the Buffalo Convention Center for a night of boogie.
The Guiness Book of World Records confirmed that this was the largest disco event of all time. Gloria Gaynor and The Trammps performed as disco balls and four-on-the-floor beats, shook the dance floor.
The event has been running consecutively every year since 1994, with each year drawing a larger crowd. Last year, the tickets sold out in only a few hours. They managed to raise $2,000,000 for charity.
The event takes place every Saturday night after Thanksgiving. It’s a true tribute to disco that features live performances by 70’s era musicians along with dancers that are dressed in full-on 70’s attire.
There have been many celebrtities that have attended the disco that include, Henry “The Fonz” Winkler, Cindy Morgan “Lacy Underalls” from Caddyshack, WWF star Jimmy “Superfly” Snuka, Lou “The Hulk” Ferrigno, Chris Kirkpatrick from “NSYNC”, WWE stars “The Honky Tonk Man” & “Virgil”, Erik “Ponch” Estrada, Danny ”Partridge Family” Bonaduce, musician/teen idol “Leif Garret”, and Chris Knight “Peter Brady”.
Tickets for the event went on sale in August and they go very quickly, so get them while you can or add your name to the waiting list. They expect a crowd of approximately 7000 people at the Buffalo Convention Center.
