Apollo Spring Gala 2012 honoring Lionel Richie
The Apollo Theater’s Spring Gala will be a gathering of some of the best and brightest in business and the entertainment industry. On this star studded night, Lionel Richie and the late Etta James will be inducted into the Apollo Legends Hall of Fame, joining past inductees Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Patti LaBelle, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson among others. The Apollo Spring Gala which is in its seventh year, will be held on on June 4, 2012.
Robert Johnson at 100 All-Star Tribute
On Tuesday March 6, 2012, The Apollo Theater will host an All-Star musical tribute to the man know as the King of the Delta Blues Singers, Robert Johnson. This special evening is a fundraiser to assist with the building of the Blues Hall of Fame by the Blues Foundation in Memphis, Tennessee.
NYC Charities Donate or Volunteer For the Holidays
The holiday season is officially underway and unfortunately for many New Yorkers, this time is filled with unfortunate hardship. There are a number of charities in the city that are giving to the less fortunate by organizing donation drives and setting up volunteer groups for shelters. 2011 New York City Marathon Photos
The 42nd running of the ING New York City Marathon was held today. There was over 47,000 people in the race that took to the streets to accomplish what probably would mark an epic moment in each one of their lives. Every runner had their own reason for taking on the challenge of the New York City marathon and all appeared to be very proud of it.
“STAT! 2011″ A Benefit for New York City Health and Hospitals
STAT! 2011 celebrates the second annual week long concert series to recognize the work of the New York Health and Hospitals Corporation. There will be five events across Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island and The Bronx from, October 23 – 30.
The World’s Largest Disco in Buffalo, New York
Every year, disco lover’s from all over converge on Buffalo New York for, The World’s Largest Disco. The event is a charity fundraiser held by Conesus Fest to raise funds for Camp Good Days and Special Times, a summer camp for children with cancer. The event which was first held back in 1979, packed 13,000 disco fans into the Buffalo Convention Center for a night of boogie.
Black Eyed Peas Central Park Concert on 9/30
If you were all set back on June 9th to see the Black Eyed Peas, Taylor Swift, LL Cool J, Tony Bennett and Carole King, the rescheduled concert is now set for September 30.
2011 Dumpling Festival in New York City
The 3rd annual Tang’s Natural New York City Dumpling Festival will take place on September 17th. You will have the opportunity to taste everything from Pierogis to Pot stickers at this festival that features an international seclection of dumplings from Italy, China, Malaysia and Poland. The festival is free but if you would like to sample the dumplings, you can purchase a ticket for $20. One ticket entitles you to four tastes from any participating restaurant or booth throughout the Festival.
