There’s always an abundance of festivals that take place in the city and its outter boroughs but, if you want to make a road trip, here are a couple that would be worth checking out. We will be adding to the list all summer so stay tuned.
Newport Folk Festival
The festival will take place on July 30 -31st at Fort Adams in Newport, RI. Fort Adams is situated at the mouth of Newport Harbor with panoramic views of the Newport Bridge and the East Passage. It’s about a 3.5 hour drive from NYC. There will be 3 stages along with food, crafts and a number of other displays.
The line up includes: Gogol Bordello, The Felice Brothers, Mavis Staples, EmmyLou Harris, Elvis Costello (acoustic), Carolina Chocolate Drops

The band Soulive has a loyal following and a great base of musicians and they have put together a 3-day outdoor festival at Stratton Mountain in Vermont set for August 12-14. It’s about a 4.5 hour drive from NYC.
The line up includes: Soulive, Chromeo, Lettuce, John Medeski, John Brown’s Body,Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk and Karl Denson.
