New York’s 16th Annual Rooftop Films Summer Series has just announced their line up for the 2012 season. This years programming will consist of 45 outdoor events, all featuring big crowds, live music, spectacular venues and the best new, independent and foreign films in the world. The Summer Series will run from May 11- August 18, with special events in September.
Most of the feature films that will be shown are either New York, US or World Premieres. The screenings will be held at various venue’s in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island City that include, Automotive High School, Bam Cinematek Outdoors, Brooklyn Tech, Fort Greene Park, Open Road Rooftop, The Ifc Center, Solar One, Socrates Sculpture Park, And The Old American Can Factory. Films in this year’s series include Sundance favorites “China Heavyweight,” “Detropia,” “Kid-Thing” and “An Oversimplification of Her Beauty,” and SXSW favorites like “Kumare,” “Gayby” and “Sun Don’t Shine.”
