Waiting for the the train in the subway is about to become a lot more louder when a handful of stations next week in Manhattan gain cell phone signals from the platform.
The program that is a pilot for At&T and T- Mobile customers will begin along the 14th Street corridor — at the A, C, E, F, L, M and No. 1, 2 and 3 platforms — and the C and E train station at 23rd Street.
You probably wont be able to make calls while you are on the train since the tunnels are not wired but, you are all good if you are on the platform. This service is not yet available to those customers on other services like Verizon and Sprint.
By the year 2016, we can expect that all 277 underground stations will be wired for service.
The MTA plans to provide us with more details next week.
